Commissioner Doak hasn't just talked about conservative values on the campaign trail; he's implemented them in government. As the head of a multimillion-dollar state agency (the Oklahoma Insurance Department), Doak has demonstrated the type of prudent budgeting and fiscal policies we need across state government.
Thanks to greater operational efficiency and reforms, the Oklahoma Insurance Department has spent less money than it was authorized to spend by the Legislature every year Doak has been in office! Over the last four years, the Department has returned a total of approximately $22.5 million back to the state treasury.
The Insurance Department also returned a nearly $1million federal Obamacare grant for conducting health insurance premium rate reviews and regained full accreditation for its Financial Division from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), which was lost in the prior administration.
